The St. George Fire Protection District has a three member Civil Service Board appointed by the governing body. Members of the Civil Service Board are each appointed for three year terms.

Duties of the Civil Service Board include:
· Represent the public interest in matters of personnel administration concerning fire and police employees.
· Advise and assist the appointing authority and governing body as to maintenance and improvement of personnel standards and administration.
· Advise and assist all classified employees.
· Make such investigations and determinations as required.
· Make such rules as necessary to conduct the business of the board.
· Make and adopt a classification plan appropriate for the needs of the jurisdiction.
· Make such reports, as required or requested, to the governing body.
