The St. George Fire Protection District is an independent taxing authority.  It is governed by a five-member board of commissioners.  The Fire Chief reports directly to and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners.  These commissioners are appointed by the East Baton Rouge Parish Metropolitan Council for a two year term of service.  Commissioners serve without compensation.  They meet monthly, usually on the second Thursday of each month, at the Department's Administrative Office at 13686 Perkins Road.
