Those persons seeking to place their name and test score on our hiring list should:

  1. Take a Civil Service Exam.  Places & dates of exams can be obtained by contacting the Municipal Fire / Police Civil Service Office;  www.ose.state.la.us

  2. Transfer their passing grade to our department, accompanied by a completed application of employment - contact Pat Senn @ (225) 454-6571 for instructions;

  3. Once selected you will have a series of pre-interview and post-offer evaluations.

The Department is seeking to fill a Fire Academy class early 2008.

Applications for employment may be picked up at our office at 13686 Perkins Road.

Applications for the Entrance Level Civil Service Exam are downloadable at the Municipal Fire / Police Civil Service Office website at  www.ose.state.la.us .  These scores must be transferred to St. George along with a completed employment application for hiring consideration.

Successful Applicants Must:
        be at least 18 years of age
        be a citizen of the United States
        possess a valid high school diploma or GED certificate
        possess a valid drivers license and social security card
        pass the civil service exam
        pass the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education)
        pass a criminal background check
        pass a personal interview
        pass pre-employment medical, physical, and psychological evaluations
