St. George maintains the ability to respond and initiate a Hazardous Material Emergency Response in conjunction with the Baton Rouge Hazardous Materials Unit.
All St. George Firefighters are trained to Hazardous Materials Operations level.
During the intial emergency response all St. George units will be able to:
Quickly identifying the specific or generic classification of the material(s) involved in the incident according to the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG).
Protect themselves and the general public during this initial response phase of the incident.
