 As thunderstorms rolled through the area, two separate house fires were started by lightning strikes only five minutes apart. No residents were home at the time. There were no injuries.

 Chief Tarleton expressed his thanks to the voters following the passage of the Department's Capital Improvements Proposition.  The Proposition to build two fire stations using the proceeds of a five year non-renwable property tax passed by a 62% to 38% margin.

An item on the November 2nd ballot will ask the voters for 1.25mills for five years to build fire stations.  The fire station on Castille Road needs to be re-located while an additional station is needed in the Bluebonnet area.

 The St. George Fire Protection District was awarded a DHS/FEMA Assisance To Firefighters Program Grant in the amount of $215,750 for portable radios that are compliant to the new interoperability standards and to install station exhaust filter systems.
