Since The Beginning, We Have Been Caring for YOU
Our fire department has a rich history that began in 1968 when a group of dedicated volunteers came together after recognizing a critical need for fire protection in the community. These volunteers laid the foundation for a service that would grow to meet the demands of a changing population. In the late 1980s, as the community continued to expand, we hired our first part-time employees to support our volunteer efforts. By 1998, the department had grown significantly, and we proudly hired our first full-time firefighters, further enhancing our ability to protect and serve the community around the clock.

The St. George Fire Department provides fire prevention and protection services as well as medical first response for most of the area south and east of Baton Rouge, Louisiana’s city limits. We are a career fire department made up of dedicated, highly trained fire service professionals.
St. George Fire Department provides a full array of emergency services generally associated with the fire service and in keeping with the goal of protecting and preserving life, property, and the environment.
Additionally, we provide community risk reduction strategies and resources for the entire area from classes to workshops and presentations, we want everyone in our community to be as safe as possible.
